Dark Depths

I see your loving eyes

In the still waters,

Circling my shadow,

Keeping me afloat,

Though the dark depths

Are lovely and inviting.

I hear your gentle voice

Through silent tears

That echo from room

To room, framed by

Muted walls

And water colors

That bode of distant places.

Your calm vies to transform

The damaged nerves

That run through my body,

But love sometimes

Isn’t enough

To alter imperfect

Cellular notions.

I wish your love

Could transform

My shattered body

As it transformed

My heart so many

Years ago.
