Early Spring

Yellow daffodil and purple crocus

push through the gloom

of bare limbs and a sky filled with

ominous formations,

summoning a crackling.

Weather is fickle this time of year

as are the moods of all victims

of fashion encumbered in early

morning by layers that peel

off in the mid-day sun.

And all around me wait

for the redbuds to blossom,

summoning spring to this valley,

shedding off winter dandruff

tantrums and scaly extremities.
