Noble Fractions

As a guardian of misdirection,

She walks as two walk

And listens to a voice

As one unacquainted with life

Would lean toward shadows.

She knows the other

Who walks beside her,

Yet the other knows more

Of parting in self-disgust

And of purging in dissimilar

Desires of renewal.

This walk was born of consequence;

It is the coming and the going

That matter to one so enmeshed

In the commonness

Of noble fractions,

Of irrational mind-splits that

Dissolve into an infinite

Sequence toward one self.
