The Destruction of Light

Normalcy stings like a blank canvass —

abstract expressions, a blur of spent

emotions rifled through former lives

in this sterile place bereft of angst

until the pendulum dances lightly

across synapses in the darkness

of noon despair and Freudian impulses.

Take me now…take me to a place

where thoughts skirt through dreams

and record themselves on a notepad

in a pre-worldwide antediluvian plane

of death wishes and whispers of loneliness

in rooms filled with empty chairs.
